wounded balloons

are pretty unfun....so keep your short stuff happy with one of these...

I've just introduced a new, small size to locket's menagerie so take a look on Felt and if you're my first Felty purchaser you'll get a perk...a small custom ball for free! Wowsers you say? well quick then, run.

Here they are (held in my hands) aren't they so darn cute and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?

I've had a busy week sewing up some rad gift sets for 5 new mamas, better not out who for until I get the ok ;)
Heres a wee example of a taggy and bandito bib set, running out the door pics on a bright day:

I think I'll list some on Felt soon.

shakey wakey

Today we had another 5.1 shake. I'm not happy. I specifically went to bed early last night *shakes fist* and  that bed threw me out again at 6am. Well not out as such, I sat bolt upright waiting for the screams to sound from the offspring. Didn't take long for the almost 2 year old to hurl his distaste for a shaking cot, out into the world. But the tween was completely oblivious and slept in till 10am...noice for him.

I love self portraits

I take a few of them I think. Theres mostly a child with me, otherwise I'd barely get to be in any pics!  Oh thats a lie, on our walk the other day my partner took some of me and littlest.
A little indulgent but we all age change so fast! Watch my mullet grow...go.
This one makes me laugh aloud...every...time...I...see...it. The child supermaning with goodness knows what, me looking horsily adoringly at the child... Ahhh yes.

taken last weekend

last summer on our combi tour of the coast

spot the nappy bucket ;)

this one is hilarious...nappies drying...bare bottom...

theres more I tell you...but thats enough blog fluff for now.

meet Scrabbit

My wee guy has a few homemade toys. I made him a whale and a rocket a while ago, but gosh darnit he needed a friend. So on the last day of the decade, I abandoned his care into the hands of his big sister and I compiled this creature, forever to be known as Scrabbit...a scrappy rabbit perhaps?
Master A said "mine MINE!"  He has been hauled about rather a lot, so I think I did ok.
Hes made from gorgeous vintage cord I've had in my stash for yonks, from the lovely Nikki. His ears are  matryoshka dolls fabric from Agnes at Fabric Online Legs came from Spotty last week in their quilting cottons sale...shhhhhhh $3.50m down from $22, score. And arms you ask, mmmmmm my fav green pincord from stash... Scrap scrap scrabbity! Why do I want to sing that?

I always giggle seeing this pic. I'd asked him 'where are his eyes?" and mr A grabs them. Rather nipple gripple'ish isn't it?

I forgot...

to add that as if I didn't have enough to do in the week before xmas, I approached two gorgeous shops, and now locket balloon balls are available through Portico in Lyttelton and Flock in Sumner, Christchurch.
Definitely visit as they both have such lovely, lovely wares. I struggle to leave both without something delightful.

Felt

I've loaded our first listing on Felt...just waiting for admin ok and its all GO!! locket lift-off ;)

slack blogger aye, slap!

Despite the quietness on here, much abounds in locket land :D

The market on the 18th was SUPER! I met many talented crafters whose work I'd mostly only admired online and my wee half table nearly sold out. I had a great time explaining just what my balloon balls were. Every now and then I'd bounce one willfully wildly and nearly lose it across the market, oops. People picked them up expecting some weight to them and were surprised by their lightness ;)
Wee man ran around with dada in his gears, being completely mischievous, but certainly drummed up some interest, heehee. And pics...nahhhh that would have ment I'd have been far more awake, and certainly not up till 4am, labeling things the night before. It wasn't till we were on our way home that I thought, crap, no pics!

So heres a few..
oh and if you want you can like Locket on facebook. Finally last night I jumped in and started our page, slightly miffed we had to use a capital though, darn FB, we're lowercase, come on, is that really an issue?!!

bribed with a bik'it ;)

I've been working on locket Balloon Balls, or balloon armour if you will for.. a 'couple' of years. My eldest is almost 14 and she had a very basic version as a baby and every now and then I'd whip them up as a gift. Once wee man arrived nearly 2 years ago (gulp...hes a baby still right?) I made him one and after much tweaking and funny shaped 'boons- they abound in our lounge, I arrived at this design that keeps the balloon tucked well away from wee fingers (or mouths if its my monkey) and means balloons can be reused over and over if you twist rather than knot the end.

Did I mention how fun ceiling volleyball is in the lounge with a  toddler, teen and tween next to the flat screen? (guffaw)

this is the super sweet, organic version

and this 'boon is needle cord and 2D Zoo fabric, mmmmmm

I'll be back later with more. But for now small person needs to sleep :D

11am'ish 1/1/11 Happy New Year!
